Bring out the cake! Light the candles! Today is Dr. Seuss’ (one of my childhood heroes) birthday. I honestly don’t know that much about the life of “Mr. Geisel,” but I do appreciate stories like The Cat in the Hat, Horton Hears a Who!, and Green Eggs and Ham.
Here’s an excerpt from one of my favorites:
I would not, could not, in a box.
I could not, would not, with a fox.
I will not eat them with a mouse.
I will not eat them in a house.
I will not eat them here or there.
I will not eat them anywhere.
I do not eat green eggs and ham.
I do not like them, Sam-I-am.

What a night! Once again we returned to what I would imagine the 1920s and 30s being like–a night filled with lots of laughing, meeting new people, and one of my all-time favorite activities…
Dancing!
We had a few “experts” and a few beginners, but everyone seemed to pick up the Carolina Shag with relative ease. I love this kind of environment…you can admire the way some people dance, help others get the feel for it, and find general enjoyment in all of it.
I think I’ve mentioned this before in previous posts, but what I love the most about nights like these is the fact that there was probably not a single other house in Wake Forest tonight filled with young adults dancing. What a great past-time.
Simple. Fun. Pure. Great.
