I can only hope that one day there will be another Renaissance…and that dancing will be up among the most celebrated arts rediscovered. If it happens, I’ll be one of the first reformers to jump on the bandwagon.

Sometimes I think it would be nice if this were the way to flirt, fight, and make-up with a girl.

CIA…here I come.

Yesterday I participated in professional spy work. That’s right. I learned how to tap a phone line.

And I have proof.

Phone tap

Ok…so perhaps it wasn’t really spy work. But it was phone tapping…done legally, of course. And now if I ever happen to find myself in a life-threatening position and there’s a line out there that needs to be tapped…you can rest assured that I will not let you down.

Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss

March 2, 2009 · 1 Comment

Bring out the cake! Light the candles! Today is Dr. Seuss’ (one of my childhood heroes) birthday. I honestly don’t know that much about the life of “Mr. Geisel,” but I do appreciate stories like The Cat in the Hat, Horton Hears a Who!, and Green Eggs and Ham.

Here’s an excerpt from one of my favorites:

I would not, could not, in a box.
I could not, would not, with a fox.

I will not eat them with a mouse.

I will not eat them in a house.

I will not eat them here or there.

I will not eat them anywhere.

I do not eat green eggs and ham.

I do not like them, Sam-I-am.

And they were a dancin’

What a night! Once again we returned to what I would imagine the 1920s and 30s being like–a night filled with lots of laughing, meeting new people, and one of my all-time favorite activities…

Dancing!

We had a few “experts” and a few beginners, but everyone seemed to pick up the Carolina Shag with relative ease. I love this kind of environment…you can admire the way some people dance, help others get the feel for it, and find general enjoyment in all of it.

I think I’ve mentioned this before in previous posts, but what I love the most about nights like these is the fact that there was probably not a single other house in Wake Forest tonight filled with young adults dancing. What a great past-time.

Simple. Fun. Pure. Great.
